Chhattisgarh flags off India’s largest copper concentrate export to China, marks major logistics milestone
Chhattisgarh has once again demonstrated its rising dominance in India’s industrial and logistics landscape by flagging off the country’s largest-ever copper concentrate export to China. This historic development not only strengthens India’s export capabilities but also cements Chhattisgarh’s identity as a rapidly emerging logistics powerhouse.
A Record-Breaking Export Movement
A massive consignment of 12,000 metric tonnes (MT) of copper concentrate has been dispatched from the Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Nava Raipur, marking a new chapter in India’s trade growth. The first rake, carrying 2,200 MT, began its journey to Visakhapatnam Port on November 11, from where the shipment will head to China.
This milestone highlights the operational efficiency and strategic importance of the Nava Raipur MMLP a facility built under the Department of Industries and designed to streamline global market access for businesses across Central India.
Nava Raipur MMLP: Central India’s Gateway to Global Trade
The Nava Raipur MMLP is equipped with modern cargo-handling systems, seamless rail integration, and cost-effective multimodal connectivity. Its world-class infrastructure enables faster movement of cargo and provides industries in the region with high-value export opportunities. Within a short span, it has positioned itself as an influential gateway connecting Central India to global supply chains.
Chhattisgarh: A Mineral Powerhouse of India
Copper and tin form the backbone of Chhattisgarh’s mineral economy. The state holds the unique distinction of being India’s only producer of tin, contributing 100% of national tin output and housing 35.83% of the country’s total tin ore reserves. With an estimated 30 million tonnes of tin deposits in Dantewada and Sukma, the state plays a crucial role in powering industries across electronics, defence, solar manufacturing, and advanced technologies.
Over the past 25 years, Chhattisgarh’s mining sector has undergone remarkable transformation. From a mineral revenue of ₹429 crore in 2000, the figure has surged to ₹14,592 crore, reflecting a 34-fold growth a testament to strong policy reforms and industrial expansion.
Policy Push: Chhattisgarh Logistics Policy 2025
To further accelerate development, the state government has launched the Chhattisgarh State Logistics Policy 2025, aimed at making the region India’s premier logistics hub by 2047. The policy emphasizes:
Modern multimodal logistics infrastructure
Export-led industrial development
Strong private sector collaboration
Job creation through balanced regional growth
This comprehensive roadmap reflects the state’s long-term vision to enhance its connectivity, efficiency, and global competitiveness.
Leadership Speaks
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai applauded the achievement, stating, “The dispatch of Chhattisgarh’s largest copper export consignment is not just a commercial event it is a powerful stride toward an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).”
A government spokesperson added that this milestone reinforces Chhattisgarh’s reputation as one of India’s most efficient and strategically located trade and logistics hubs a region that continues to drive national economic progress.
