Asia Cup: India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets in Dubai, consolidate top spot in Group A

The high-voltage India vs Pakistan clash at the Asia Cup 2025 turned into a one-sided affair as India clinched a dominant seven-wicket win in Dubai on Sunday. With this victory, India consolidated their position at the top of Group A, sending a strong message to their rivals.

India’s spin attack rattles Pakistan

After Pakistan captain Salman Agha opted to bat first, India’s bowlers quickly took control of the game. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav spun a web around Pakistan’s middle order, finishing with exceptional figures of 3/18. His partner in spin, Axar Patel, was equally effective, taking 2/18. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah also chipped in with two wickets, ensuring that Pakistan never found momentum.

Struggling against India’s disciplined attack, Pakistan limped to 127/9 in their allotted 20 overs, with no batsman managing to anchor the innings.

India’s batting shines in the chase

Chasing 128, India displayed remarkable intent from the start. Young opener Abhishek Sharma smashed a quickfire 31 off just 13 balls, setting the tone for the innings. Tilak Varma added a steady 31 off 31 deliveries, ensuring there were no hiccups in the middle.

Skipper Suryakumar Yadav then took charge, guiding the team home with an unbeaten 47 off 37 balls. India crossed the finish line in just 15.5 overs, showcasing both aggression and composure.

A commanding statement in Group A

This emphatic win not only highlighted India’s balanced squad but also underlined their dominance in the tournament so far. With bowlers executing their plans perfectly and batters rising to the occasion, India looks well set for a strong campaign in the Asia Cup 2025.
