VOC Port Sets New Record, Handles 103 Windmill Blades in a Single Vessel
In a landmark achievement, VOC Port has set a new record by successfully handling 103 windmill blades in a single vessel operation, marking the highest number ever managed at the Port. This remarkable feat surpasses the previous record of 101 blades handled on August 22, 2025, and establishes a new benchmark in renewable energy cargo operations in India’s maritime sector.
Milestone in Renewable Energy Cargo Handling
This record-breaking operation reinforces VOC Port’s pivotal role in supporting India’s clean energy transition. Up to October 2025, the Port has handled a total of 2,300 windmill blades during the current financial year (2025–26), registering an impressive 61% growth compared to 1,425 blades handled during the same period in 2024–25.
Efficient Operations and Coordination
The vessel, MV GHT MARINAS, arrived from the Port of Qinzhou, China, and was berthed at Additional Berth-II. The handling operation was executed seamlessly using two harbour mobile cranes, ensuring speed and safety. The entire logistics process including vessel agency, stevedoring, customs clearance, and ground transportation was efficiently managed by NTC Logistics India Pvt. Ltd.
Advanced Infrastructure for Over-Dimensional Cargo
Handling windmill blades, each measuring 89.5 metres and 76.8 metres in length, demanded exceptional precision and planning. VOC Port has developed robust infrastructure to accommodate such over-dimensional cargo (ODC), featuring a 100,000 sq. m. customs-notified storage area and additional bonded space outside port premises. The port’s uninterrupted road connectivity, skilled workforce, and dedicated handling systems played a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence.
Leadership Commendation
Congratulating the team, Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, VOC Port Authority, remarked,
“The successful handling of 103 windmill blades underscores VOC Port’s efficiency, operational excellence, and commitment to advancing India’s renewable energy mission. The Port remains steadfast in its dedication to providing world-class services to its trade partners.”
Driving India’s Green Energy Ambition
With this record-setting achievement, VOC Port continues to solidify its position as a key logistics hub for renewable energy components, contributing significantly to India’s sustainable growth and green energy goals. This milestone reflects the Port’s unwavering focus on innovation, infrastructure readiness, and support for India’s expanding renewable energy ecosystem.
