ONE reshuffles Japan-Korea service to boost efficiency

Ocean Network Express (ONE), a leading Japanese carrier, has announced a strategic revision to its Japan Korea 1 (JK1) service, aiming to strengthen operational efficiency, enhance service reliability, and improve environmental performance across its regional network.

Port Call Shift from Tokyo to Kawasaki

As part of this reshuffle, ONE will replace its existing port call at Tokyo with a new call at Kawasaki, bringing a fresh focus to the service’s efficiency and connectivity. This adjustment reflects ONE's ongoing commitment to optimizing port operations and reducing environmental impact by streamlining its service routes.

New JK1 Rotation Starting June 12

The updated JK1 service rotation is set to take effect with the MV Confidence voyage 218E/218W, departing Pusan on 12 June. The revised rotation is as follows:

  • Previous Rotation: Pusan – Shimizu – Tokyo – Nagoya – Pusan

  • New Rotation: Pusan – Shimizu – Kawasaki – Nagoya – Pusan

The change is expected to benefit customers through more reliable schedules and better integration with inland logistics.

Strong Financial Performance in FY2024

The announcement comes on the heels of ONE’s impressive financial performance in Fiscal Year 2024 (April 2024 – March 2025). The company reported a 32% year-over-year increase in revenue, reaching a total of $19.23 billion. Additionally, ONE’s net profit surged to $4.24 billion, up by a substantial $3.27 billion compared to the previous fiscal year. These results highlight the carrier’s resilient growth and operational excellence amid changing global trade dynamics.

Conclusion

With the updated JK1 service rotation and its strong financial standing, ONE continues to show its commitment to delivering efficient and reliable shipping solutions across the Asia-Pacific region. The shift from Tokyo to Kawasaki marks another step forward in aligning service strategies with evolving market needs and sustainability goals.
