India Approves 17 New Applicants Under PLI Scheme for Textiles, ₹2,374 Crore Fresh Investment Committed

India’s textile sector has received another major boost as the Ministry of Textiles approved 17 new applicants under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles in the third round of selections. This marks a significant step toward expanding the nation’s manufacturing strength in Man-Made Fibre (MMF) Apparel, MMF Fabrics, and Technical Textiles segments that are rapidly growing in global demand.

A Strong Push Toward Advanced Textile Manufacturing

In this latest round, the newly approved companies have collectively committed an impressive ₹2,374 crore in fresh investments. These investments are not only set to enhance India’s production capabilities but are also projected to generate over ₹12,893 crore in sales in the coming years.

Beyond economic output, the projects are expected to create 22,646 new employment opportunities, providing a substantial boost to industrial growth and local job creation across regions.

About the PLI Scheme for Textiles

Launched on September 24, 2021, with an outlay of ₹10,683 crore, the PLI Scheme for Textiles aims to:

  • Strengthen the domestic manufacturing ecosystem

  • Promote high-value segments like MMF and Technical Textiles

  • Improve India’s global competitiveness

  • Encourage large-scale investments and innovation

With the addition of the 17 new beneficiaries, the scheme now has a total of 91 selected applicants, including 74 approved in earlier rounds. This rising participation signals strong industry confidence in the scheme’s long-term vision.

Key Amendments & Renewed Industry Participation

To encourage even broader industry engagement, the Ministry has rolled out major amendments to streamline and strengthen the scheme. Additionally, the government has reopened the online application portal, allowing new companies to apply until December 31, 2025.

This move is expected to bring in more players, boost competition, and accelerate investments setting the stage for the next phase of expansion in India’s textile manufacturing landscape.

Driving India Toward a Global Textile Leadership

The latest approvals highlight the government’s commitment to positioning India as a global hub for advanced textiles. Through targeted incentives, capacity building, and sustained dialogue with industry stakeholders, the PLI scheme continues to reshape the sector.

As India marches toward becoming a major force in the global textile value chain, initiatives like these will play a crucial role in unlocking new opportunities, empowering manufacturers, and driving long-term economic growth.
