Google Data Centre in Visakhapatnam will create 1.88 lakh jobs, says JSP leader
In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s digital economy, Google’s $10 billion investment plan to establish a 1-GW hyperscale data centre cluster in Visakhapatnam has been warmly welcomed by the Jana Sena Party (JSP). The announcement marks a transformative moment for the region, with the project expected to generate around 1.88 lakh direct and indirect jobs and contribute ₹10,500 crore annually to the State’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
According to JSP general secretary Bolisetty Satyanarayana, the project executed through Raiden InfoTech will not only create employment but also catalyse growth across infrastructure, MSME sectors, and skill development initiatives. He emphasized that this landmark investment will position Visakhapatnam as a global digital hub, strengthening India’s foothold in the AI and cloud computing ecosystem.
To facilitate this mega initiative, the Andhra Pradesh Government has extended ₹22,000 crore in incentives, including land subsidies, tax exemptions, and power discounts. Additionally, the Central Government is reportedly offering a 20-year tax holiday and GST credits to encourage large-scale data infrastructure investments in the state.
Mr. Satyanarayana defended these incentives as a “strategic investment” aimed at attracting global capital and technology leaders to India. He stated that such initiatives will accelerate digital transformation, enhance connectivity and innovation, and yield long-term economic benefits for the region.
With this development, Visakhapatnam is poised to become one of India’s leading data and technology destinations driving progress, empowering local talent, and redefining the state’s economic future.
