BJP to flaunt PM Narendra Modi’s 11 years 'success' in politics, flag CM 'failure'

As the BJP celebrates Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 11 years in office, the party has launched a full-fledged campaign in West Bengal one that not only highlights Modi’s perceived national achievements but also takes direct aim at the Mamata Banerjee-led state government’s alleged failures.
On Tuesday, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, inaugurated an exhibition and addressed a press conference in Calcutta, officially kicking off the BJP’s month-long campaign in the poll-bound state. The celebrations are designed to serve a dual purpose: projecting Modi's success and exposing the shortcomings of the Trinamool Congress government.
A 50-50 Political Strategy
BJP state president and Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar made the party’s dual strategy clear when asked about the campaign’s primary focus. “We will give a 50-50 share to both in the state. While showcasing Modiji’s success story, we will point out Mamata Banerjee’s failure as chief minister,” he said.
The BJP does not intend to restrict its campaign to Calcutta alone. Instead, it aims to take the narrative deep into rural Bengal, where it hopes to connect with voters on issues like unemployment, corruption, and law and order.
PM Modi’s Vision vs Mamata’s Governance
Bhupender Yadav used the platform to draw stark contrasts between the Prime Minister’s vision and what he described as the TMC government’s governance failures. Yadav accused the Mamata Banerjee administration of indulging in minority appeasement, failing to ensure women’s safety, and causing job losses citing the sacking of over 26,000 teachers and non-teaching staff due to alleged corruption in the education sector.
“Our Prime Minister has prepared a separate roadmap for Bengal. There is a need for a state government with an active and positive approach to take Modiji’s vision forward,” Yadav said. “The politics of appeasement, atrocities against women, and brain drain from Bengal are all results of poor governance. It is time to change the government.”
He referred to sensitive incidents like the Sandeshkhali unrest and the recent riots in Murshidabad as examples of what he called the TMC's governance in "black ink."
Showcasing Modi’s Milestones
Yadav praised Modi’s national leadership for strengthening the Indian economy, enhancing border security, and executing high-stakes operations like Operation Sindoor. He also presented comparative statistics to emphasize the increased financial allocations made to Bengal under the Modi regime versus those under the previous UPA government.
The BJP continues to counter the TMC’s narrative of “central deprivation” by pointing to central grants and schemes rolled out in Bengal. They believe this approach can especially resonate in rural constituencies where such funding has had visible impact.
TMC Strikes Back
The Trinamool Congress, however, strongly rejected the BJP's campaign. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh accused the BJP of attempting to defame the state government without contributing to Bengal’s development. “They are always trying to tarnish the image of the state government. They should first release the ₹1.70 lakh crore withheld by the Centre,” Ghosh said.
He emphasized that the people of Bengal trust Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, noting her government’s efforts to support the underprivileged and uphold state interests.
Conclusion
As the political temperature rises in Bengal, the BJP’s campaign marking 11 years of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister is more than just a celebration it’s a calculated political move aimed at gaining traction in one of India’s most politically dynamic states. With both achievements and allegations being projected in equal measure, Bengal’s voters are once again at the heart of a high-stakes political battle.
