VOC Port Authority wins ‘Green Visionary’ award at India Maritime Week 2025

The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) has achieved another milestone by receiving the prestigious ‘Green Visionary’ Award at India Maritime Week 2025, held in Mumbai. This recognition highlights VOCPA’s exemplary dedication to environmental stewardship and its leadership in promoting port decarbonisation across India’s maritime sector.

The award acknowledges VOCPA’s pioneering sustainability initiatives and its success in setting new benchmarks for green transformation among Indian ports. Through consistent innovation and commitment, VOCPA has emerged as a model for integrating sustainability into port operations and infrastructure development.

The accolade was presented by Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, in the presence of Union Minister of State Shri Shantanu Thakur and Secretary, MoPSW Shri Vijay Kumar. The award was received by Chairman Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit and Deputy Chairman Shri Rajesh Soundrarajan, who expressed pride in VOCPA’s achievements and ongoing mission towards eco-friendly growth.

Officials at the event praised VOCPA’s proactive approach to incorporating renewable energy, eco-friendly operational models, and carbon reduction measures into its long-term development strategy.
