India batter Rinku Singh has left the national camp and returned home following a sudden family emergency. The development comes at a crucial stage of the tournament, with India preparing for an important Super 8 clash.

Father Hospitalised in Greater Noida

According to sources, Rinku’s father, Khanchand Singh, is in serious condition and has been admitted to a local hospital in Greater Noida. He is currently on ventilator support.

Rinku had travelled with the Indian team to Chennai on Monday, February 23, a day after India’s Super 8 clash. However, he left Chennai early on Tuesday morning to be with his family after receiving the distressing news. He was also unavailable for practice on Tuesday evening following the development.

Unlikely to Feature Against Zimbabwe

India are set to face Zimbabwe national cricket team on February 26 in Chennai. With Rinku returning home, he is unlikely to be available for the match.

The timing of his departure is significant, as India are in a must-win situation. After suffering a defeat to South Africa national cricket team in their first Super 8 match, the team is under pressure to bounce back strongly.
