Pahalgam Terror Attack: Amit Shah Pays Tributes To Pahalgam Victims, NIA At Terror Attack Site

In one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir since Pulwama 2019, at least 26 civilians—mostly tourists—lost their lives in a brutal assault in Pahalgam, Anantnag district. The horrific incident occurred on Tuesday at Baisaran, a popular tourist meadow only accessible on foot or by pony, where a group of visitors had ventured for sightseeing.

Attack Details and Responsibility

According to official sources, the assault was meticulously planned and executed by militants. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit, has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the Indian government is yet to issue a formal statement confirming this claim.

Government and Global Reaction

The shockwaves of the attack were felt not only across the country but around the globe. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who immediately cut short his Saudi Arabia visit, returned to India and held a high-level meeting at the Delhi airport with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. PM Modi strongly condemned the act, stating, "Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice and will not be spared."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid heartfelt tributes to the victims, expressing deep grief and reaffirming the government's commitment to eliminate terrorism from the region.

International condemnation poured in as well, with US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni denouncing the attack and expressing unwavering support for India in its fight against terrorism.

NIA and Security Measures

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been deployed to the site of the attack to conduct an in-depth investigation. Security has been heightened across sensitive zones in the valley, and intelligence agencies are working round the clock to trace and eliminate any further threats.

Helpline Numbers Released

To assist affected families and stranded tourists, the authorities have set up emergency helplines:

  • Emergency Control Room – Srinagar: 0194-2457543, 0194-2483651, 7006058623

Final Thoughts

This cowardly attack on innocent tourists once again highlights the urgent need for collective global action against terrorism. As India mourns the loss of lives in Pahalgam, the nation stands united in grief and resolve. The government has assured swift justice, and the people of India, along with the international community, remain firm in their stand against terror in all its forms.
