Kandla terminal sets record by crossing 4 MMT cargo milestone ahead of schedule

Kandla International Container Terminal (KICT) has achieved a historic feat by handling over 4 million tonnes (MMT) of cargo in FY2025–26, reaching the mark on 27 August 2025. This achievement marks the terminal’s fastest-ever milestone, attained more than two months earlier compared to last year, when the same threshold was crossed on 31 October 2024.
A Record-Breaking Achievement
The early milestone is a clear indicator of KICT’s growing efficiency, precision, and operational reliability at Deendayal Port. By surpassing this landmark well ahead of schedule, the terminal has once again demonstrated its capability to keep pace with rising cargo volumes and evolving global trade demands.
The Driving Forces Behind Success
Officials attributed the success to a combination of factors, including:
Seamless teamwork among terminal staff and management
Customer confidence built through dependable service
Strong coordination with stakeholders across the logistics chain
In a statement, KICT expressed gratitude:
“Crossing 4 MMT in record time is a proud moment for us and reflects our focus on speed, reliability, and innovation. We thank our teams, partners, and clients for their continued trust and support.”
Strengthening Deendayal Port’s Position
This accomplishment is not just a win for KICT, but also a boost for Deendayal Port, which continues to strengthen its position as a leading hub for India’s maritime trade. With growing efficiency in handling large volumes, KICT is emerging as a frontrunner in setting new industry benchmarks for reliability and operational excellence.
Looking Ahead
The achievement signals KICT’s strong momentum going forward. As India’s trade expands, the terminal’s ability to scale operations with speed and innovation will play a vital role in shaping the nation’s maritime growth story.
