JNPA achieves record throughput, sets new benchmark in draft depth

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s premier container handling port, has reached another historic milestone, setting new benchmarks in both cargo throughput and maritime capabilities.

Record Throughput in Container Handling

In August, JNPA recorded its highest-ever monthly throughput by handling 695,968 TEUs of containers, equivalent to 8.56 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo. This achievement reinforces JNPA’s leadership position as the nation’s gateway to global trade and its crucial role in boosting India’s logistics efficiency.

Advancing Maritime Knowledge

In line with its commitment to fostering global maritime expertise, JNPA, in collaboration with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, hosted a five-day seminar on Dredging Technologies at the JNPA-APEC Port Training Centre. The event brought together international experts, policymakers, and port professionals to share knowledge, explore innovative technologies, and discuss sustainable practices in port operations   further strengthening India’s maritime skill base.

Engaging Future Maritime Leaders

Continuing its focus on talent development, JNPA welcomed Indian Foreign Service (IFS) official batches for in-depth deliberations on India’s maritime future. The discussions highlighted the port’s pivotal role in advancing trade, shaping talent, and fostering international cooperation.

Record Draft Achievement with MSC Ivana

In another landmark development, the vessel MSC Ivana berthed at PSA Mumbai (BMCT) Terminal with a record draft of 16.35 metres, the deepest ever achieved at JNPort. This milestone marks JNPA’s growing capability to handle next-generation mega vessels, enhancing its global competitiveness and readiness to serve as a world-class maritime hub.
