Accelerating Infrastructure Growth Across Andhra Pradesh

In a significant move to bolster its infrastructure and boost regional connectivity, Andhra Pradesh is set to launch the Andhra Pradesh Logistics Corporation. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recently announced this strategic step, emphasizing the importance of developing the state into a major logistics hub in India. The new corporation is expected to streamline planning and execution of key infrastructure projects, particularly in the maritime and aviation sectors.

Fast-Tracking Port Development

Chief Minister Naidu has directed officials to ensure the first-phase completion of several key port projects by December next year. These include:

• Machilipatnam Port – Currently 43.25% complete, targeted for full completion by November next year.
  
  

• Ramayapatnam Port – First-phase completion at 63.89%.
  
  

• Mulapeta Port – First-phase work stands at 46.59%.
  
  

• Kakinada Gateway Port – First-phase work progress at 29.92%.
  
  

These projects form a core part of the state's vision to develop at least 20 ports, boosting trade, transportation, and coastal economy.

Transforming Fishing Harbours into Minor Ports

A crucial aspect of the state's strategy includes exploring the potential of upgrading fishing harbours into minor ports. However, the Chief Minister emphasized that this must be done without disrupting the livelihoods of local fishing communities. This initiative could enhance regional port capacity while ensuring inclusive development.

Airports to Improve Regional Connectivity

In addition to maritime infrastructure, the state is investing heavily in air connectivity. The Chief Minister has ordered initiation of construction for new airports at Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Amaravati, and Srikakulam (Palasa). These additions will contribute to the target of developing 14 airports across Andhra Pradesh, further improving access to remote regions and supporting economic growth.

With a clear roadmap for ports and airports, along with the formation of a dedicated logistics corporation, Andhra Pradesh is on the path to becoming a leading logistics hub in India.
