Haldia dock complex achieves historic milestone

Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) has created history by successfully berthing MV SITC ZHI, the deepest-draft container vessel ever handled at the port since its inception. The vessel, with a draft of 9.20 metres and a Length Overall (LOA) of 171.90 metres, berthed at HDC’s container terminal during the morning tide, marking a new era in the port’s operational achievements.

Strengthened Marine Capabilities

This milestone highlights HDC’s enhanced marine capabilities and operational efficiency, proving that the port is well-prepared to handle larger container vessels. The successful berthing reflects the continuous improvements in navigation, safety, and infrastructure that enable seamless handling of increasing maritime traffic.

A Gateway for Global Trade

The achievement further reinforces HDC’s status as a vital gateway for international trade, playing a pivotal role in supporting India’s maritime sector. By accommodating deeper-draft vessels, the port is well-positioned to facilitate higher cargo volumes and expand its contribution to the global logistics chain.

Excellence of Marine and Operational Teams

The smooth handling of MV SITC ZHI stands as a testament to the dedication and expertise of HDC’s Marine Department and operational teams. Their meticulous planning and commitment ensured the successful berthing, underscoring the human effort behind this milestone.

Commitment to Growth

HDC continues to invest in modern infrastructure and advanced services to keep pace with the rising demands of international maritime trade. With a vision to strengthen India’s logistics and supply chain ecosystem, the port is steadily advancing its position as a strategic hub for global shipping and commerce.
