Google announces budget-friendly Pixel 10a, here is what it looks like
Google has officially taken the wraps off its next budget smartphone, the Google Pixel 10a, offering users a first glimpse of the device ahead of its launch later this month. After weeks of rumours and leaks, the tech giant has now confirmed both the design and the launch timeline through an official teaser.
The Pixel 10a is positioned as a value-focused smartphone, continuing Google’s popular “a-series” strategy of delivering premium Pixel features at a more accessible price point.
First official look and launch timeline
Google shared a 16-second teaser video on YouTube, officially revealing the Pixel 10a. The company has also confirmed that the device will launch earlier than usual, with preorders opening on February 18, 2026. This marks a notable shift, as the previous Pixel 9a made its debut in March.
Familiar design with a clean finish
The teaser shows the Pixel 10a in a blue shade, visually similar to the Pixel 9a. The overall design remains largely unchanged, maintaining a flat rear panel and a minimalistic look. Interestingly, there appears to be no camera bump once again, ensuring the phone sits flat on a desk without wobbling. This seamless design continues to be one of the defining traits of Google’s mid-range Pixel lineup.
Colour options and hardware expectations
While Google has not officially revealed full specifications, trusted leaks suggest the Pixel 10a will arrive in four colour options: Obsidian, Lavender, Berry, and Fog. The Berry variant is said to be a fresh addition, potentially featuring a red-toned finish.
On the hardware side, leaks indicate the device will be powered by the Tensor G4 chipset, the same processor used in the Pixel 9a. In comparison, the flagship Pixel 10 is expected to feature the newer Tensor G5. The Pixel 10a is also tipped to include a 6.3-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, paired with a large 5,100mAh battery supporting 23W fast charging.
Expected pricing in India
Given that the Pixel 10a appears to be more of a refinement than a major upgrade, Google may aim to keep pricing competitive. With rising component and memory costs, maintaining affordability will be key. Based on current leaks, the Pixel 10a is expected to retain the same launch price as the Pixel 9a in India, which stood at Rs 49,999.
What this means for buyers
With an early launch, familiar Pixel design, solid hardware, and an unchanged price point, the Pixel 10a could be an attractive option for users looking for a clean Android experience without stepping into flagship pricing. More official details are expected closer to launch, but the first look suggests Google is sticking to a proven formula simple, reliable, and budget-friendly.
