Elon Musk's Starlink to launch Internet services in India within two months, offers one-month free trial. Details here

India is set to witness a major leap in internet connectivity as Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, Starlink, prepares to officially launch operations in the country within the next two months. The announcement comes on the heels of Starlink receiving its licence approval from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), making it the third satellite internet provider in India after Eutelsat’s OneWeb and Reliance Jio.
Free Trial & Subscription Pricing
As part of its launch strategy, Starlink is offering an attractive one-month complimentary trial to Indian users. Customers will be required to purchase a satellite device priced at ₹33,000, which grants access to the service. After the trial period, a monthly fee of ₹3,000 will be charged for unlimited high-speed data.
This pricing structure mirrors Starlink’s regional approach, with identical device pricing in neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh and Bhutan, reinforcing its strategy of price consistency across South Asia.
Reaching India’s Remote Regions
Starlink’s mission in India is bold and transformative: bringing fast and reliable internet to remote and underserved regions. These are areas where traditional broadband infrastructure has either struggled to expand or remains completely absent. By leveraging a constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, Starlink aims to eliminate the digital divide and empower rural communities with seamless connectivity.
A Global Player Entering Indian Skies
Starlink is already present in over 100 countries, offering residential and roaming internet plans. In most markets, users can choose between Residential Lite, meant for light usage, and Residential, suitable for heavier data requirements. This flexibility ensures that households of all sizes can find a plan that fits their needs.
In a notable move earlier this year, Starlink signed agreements with Indian telecom giants Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, showing a willingness to collaborate and coexist with the country’s leading network providers.
The Road Ahead
As India gears up for Starlink’s arrival, excitement is building among consumers and tech enthusiasts alike. The service holds immense promise for revolutionising internet access in rural India, supporting sectors like education, healthcare, and e-commerce in areas that have long been left behind.
