Deendayal Port Authority wins ‘Maritime Excellence Achievers Award’ for innovation at IMW 2025

Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has once again proved its leadership in maritime innovation and sustainability by winning the prestigious Maritime Excellence Achievers Awards in two major categories   “Driving Maritime Innovation” and “Port Sustainability Pioneer” at India Maritime Week 2025, held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.

The awards were presented by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, in the presence of Shri Shantanu Thakur, Minister of State (PSW). This recognition highlights DPA’s significant strides in port modernisation, digital transformation, and sustainable development, setting new benchmarks for India’s maritime ecosystem.

Under the dynamic leadership of Chairman Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, DPA has introduced several groundbreaking initiatives, including India’s first megawatt-scale Green Hydrogen Plant, electric green tugs, hydrogen fuel cell buses, and the development of a smart, fully mechanised port ecosystem. These innovations are closely aligned with the Government of India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the National Green Hydrogen Mission, driving the nation toward a cleaner and more efficient maritime future.

Expressing gratitude on receiving the award, Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh extended heartfelt thanks to all stakeholders, port users, trade unions, employees, and the Shramiks for their unwavering commitment. He emphasized that the recognition is a testament to DPA’s teamwork, innovation, and shared vision to transform Kandla into a “Port of the Future”   a global hub that champions both progress and sustainability.

The accolades not only reinforce DPA’s position as a leader in maritime innovation but also symbolize India’s growing commitment to building greener, smarter, and more self-reliant ports   paving the way for a sustainable maritime economy.
