Cochin shipyard, dry docks world ink mou to boost india’s ship repair infrastructure

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and Drydocks World, a subsidiary of DP World, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop ship repair clusters in India. This collaboration aims to enhance India's ship repair ecosystem by combining the technical expertise of both organizations.
The partnership, facilitated by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, seeks to establish world-class ship repair clusters in Kochi, Kerala, and Vadinar, Gujarat. These clusters will focus on advanced maintenance and repair facilities, offshore fabrication, marine engineering, and strategic infrastructure projects
This initiative aligns with India's Maritime India Vision 2030 and AmritKaal Vision 2047, aiming to modernize maritime infrastructure, generate employment, and contribute to the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.
The MoU was signed during the 'CEO-Connect: Dubai-India Economic Ties & Opportunities' event held in Mumbai, with the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Union Minister for Commerce Piyush Goyal.
This collaboration is expected to bring global best practices to India's ship repair industry, increase capacity, and support the country's goal of becoming a premier maritime service center.
