At IMW 2025, JNPA champions ‘prosperity through partnership’ for a future-ready maritime ecosystem

Showcasing Leadership at India Maritime Week 2025
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) made a remarkable impact at India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, held from October 27 to 31 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The event served as a powerful platform for JNPA to highlight its achievements, upcoming initiatives, and future-ready infrastructure. The JNPA stall drew widespread attention from dignitaries, industry experts, and international delegates, with visits from Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, and the Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Vijay Kumar, IAS. Maharashtra’s Minister of Marketing and Protocol, Jayakumar Jitendrasinh Rawal, also graced the stall, further underscoring JNPA’s pivotal role in India’s maritime progress.

Forging Strategic Alliances Worth ₹2.28 Lakh Crore
A key highlight of IMW 2025 was JNPA’s signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading Indian and global organisations, collectively amounting to over ₹2,28,300 crore. These MoUs aim to strengthen infrastructure development, enhance financial collaboration, and advance technological innovation   both at JNPA and the upcoming Vadhvan Port.

Some major MoUs include:

  • Adani Ports & SEZ – Participation at Vadhvan Port for offshore projects (₹26,500 crore) and development of container terminals (₹25,000 crore).

  • Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) – Financial support for the Vadhvan Project (₹20,000 crore).

  • Evergreen Marine Pvt. Ltd. – Terminal development at Vadhvan (₹10,000 crore).

  • HUDCO – Financing and infrastructure development at JN Port (₹5,000 crore).

  • Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) – Long-term collaboration for dredging activities (₹1,500 crore).

  • Boskalis International B.V. – Development and maintenance of reclaimed land at Vadhvan Port (₹26,500 crore).

  • Aegis Logistics Ltd. – Terminal for handling container, bulk, and liquid cargo (₹20,000 crore).

  • NMDC, Afcons Infrastructure, HCC, WAN HAI Lines, NCC Ltd., Bhilosa Industries, Savita Oil Technologies, Cemindia Project Ltd., and CONCOR – Strategic contributions worth several thousand crores each toward Vadhvan Port and sustainable marine infrastructure.

Maharashtra’s Maritime Growth Roadmap
As the host of the Maharashtra State Session at IMW 2025, JNPA unveiled a bold roadmap positioning the state as India’s leading maritime hub. The session, graced by Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, showcased Maharashtra’s three-pillar maritime development approach   led by the world-class Vadhvan Port project, sustainable infrastructure, and robust multimodal connectivity. The session also marked the inauguration of the Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS), which emphasized international cooperation and resilient global supply chains.

Promoting Global Collaboration
Further strengthening its global outreach, JNPA welcomed foreign delegations from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and Sweden. These discussions focused on port management, technology transfer, skilling, and sustainability   reinforcing JNPA’s reputation as a centre for global maritime collaboration and innovation.

Awards and Recognition for Excellence
JNPA’s contributions to India’s maritime ecosystem were acknowledged through two prestigious awards   Indian Port of the Year and Port-led Development Excellence. These accolades reflect JNPA’s unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and efficiency in port operations.

Vision for the Future: Infrastructure and Innovation
At IMW 2025, JNPA also highlighted upcoming transformative projects, including ‘ShivDurg’, a visionary 20-storey corporate office complex along Mallet Bunder Road near the Mumbai Port Authority. Designed as a state-of-the-art hub for maritime administration, ShivDurg will redefine corporate excellence and enhance operational efficiency, furthering India’s goal of becoming a global maritime leader.

Speaking at the event, Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairman, JNPA, remarked, “India Maritime Week 2025 provided JNPA with an excellent platform to showcase our ongoing projects, strategic vision, and collaborations that are shaping the next phase of India’s maritime growth. The MoUs signed and discussions held during the week will further accelerate our efforts toward building sustainable, efficient, and globally competitive port infrastructure.”
