A shocking tragedy in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, has brought to light the devastating consequences of unchecked online gambling, youthful impulsivity, and a lavish lifestyle. In a chilling turn of events, a 17-year-old boy allegedly murdered his father after being confronted over spending Rs. 6 lakh on online betting and extravagant living.

Lavish Lifestyle Turns Fatal

The victim, 37-year-old K Hanumanthu, a resident of Gopanpally, was a father of two sons. While his elder son remained focused on his Intermediate studies, the younger son became entangled in a dangerous web of online gambling and alcohol addiction.

In a move to protect family finances, Hanumanthu had recently deposited Rs. 6 lakh into his elder son's bank account for safekeeping. However, unbeknownst to him, his younger son managed to access the account and blew the entire amount on online betting and indulgent expenses.

A Father's Concern Ends in Tragedy

On discovering the misuse of funds, Hanumanthu scolded his younger son and demanded he repay the amount. The confrontation, which was meant to set the teen on the right path, instead triggered an unimaginable act of violence.

Furious and unwilling to face consequences, the teenager plotted to kill his father. On Tuesday night, under the guise of returning the money, he lured Hanumanthu to a secluded area. In a gruesome turn of events, he fatally stabbed his father with a knife.

The Gachibowli police have registered a murder case and launched a full investigation. The incident has left the community in disbelief and raised serious concerns about youth addiction to online gambling and the dire need for parental guidance and digital awareness.
