DP World Cochin achieves record throughput surpassing 81,000 teus in June 2025

DP World Cochin, operating the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT), has set a new performance benchmark by surpassing 81,000 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) in June 2025. This achievement marks a remarkable 35% increase in throughput compared to May 2025, signaling the terminal’s enhanced efficiency, operational strength, and strategic importance in India’s maritime logistics ecosystem.

Operational Milestone with Global Connectivity

In June 2025 alone, DP World Cochin handled 54 vessels, including several mother ships underscoring its ability to manage high volumes and complex shipping operations. The terminal enjoys direct connectivity with major mainline services reaching Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the Far East, making Cochin a pivotal gateway for Indian trade with global markets.

Leadership Perspective on Performance

Commenting on this milestone, Dipin Kayyath, Chief Executive Officer – Ports & Terminals – DP World Cochin, said,
“Achieving over 81,000 TEU mark in June 2025, reflects the trust our customers place in DP World Cochin and our proficient operations. This milestone reinforces our role as a critical enabler of trade, connecting India to key global markets. We remain committed to expanding our capabilities, driving efficiency, and supporting the growth of sustainable and resilient supply chains.”

Infrastructure Advancements for Reliable & Sustainable Operations

DP World has recently upgraded the terminal’s power infrastructure from 3 MVA to 5 MVA, ensuring seamless and uninterrupted performance even during peak operational hours. Furthermore, the full electrification of yard equipment has significantly lowered the carbon footprint associated with cargo handling. These advancements reflect DP World’s commitment to providing sustainable, future-ready logistics solutions.

Strategic Advantage of Location and FTWZ Integration

Cochin’s strategic location supports critical coastal connectivity from Gujarat to Kolkata and serves as a major transit point for cargo movement across India’s east and west coasts. A key enabler of regional trade is DP World’s Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) Kerala’s first and India’s only such facility co-located within a major port. This integrated setup has emerged as a cornerstone for accelerating EXIM trade and regional economic development.

Commitment to Excellence and Future Growth

DP World Cochin continues to raise the bar in safety, service quality, and technological innovation. With a clear vision to empower India’s supply chains, the terminal remains focused on delivering high-performance logistics infrastructure, driving sustainability, and strengthening trade connections with global markets.

As DP World Cochin scales new operational heights, it reinforces its role as a vital link in the global supply chain and a trusted partner in India's trade growth journey.
