Poco F8 Ultra puts a Bose subwoofer and a denim jacket on a flagship phone

Poco F8 Ultra puts a Bose subwoofer and a denim jacket on a flagship phone

Introduction
Poco has officially stepped out of its mid-range comfort zone. With the launch of the Poco F8 Ultra and F8 Pro, the brand is making its most ambitious flagship move yet. What sets the F8 Ultra apart isn’t just its power-packed specifications it’s the surprising addition of Bose-tuned speakers, a built-in subwoofer, and a denim-style finish that makes this phone impossible to ignore. For a company known for budget performance since its 2018 debut as a Xiaomi sub-brand, this is a bold new direction.

A New Identity for Poco
For years, Poco was synonymous with affordability and raw performance. But at its launch event in Bali, the company made one thing clear: it wants a new identity. The F8 series marks the brand’s first true premium flagship effort, built to compete in a crowded market through sound, design, and big-battery stamina. Both the F8 Ultra and F8 Pro come from a new collaboration with Bose, a name that instantly adds credibility to their audio ambitions.

The Bose Partnership and the Surprising Subwoofer
The F8 series arrives with Bose-engineered stereo speakers that promise richer sound and professional tuning. But the F8 Ultra takes things a step further with a built-in subwoofer something extremely rare even among the highest-end smartphones. This addition aims squarely at users who stream content, play games, and consume media on the go, offering deeper bass and a fuller audio experience without the need for an external speaker.

Flagship Hardware with Poco’s Twist
The Poco F8 Ultra is clearly the performance hero of the lineup. It features a 6.9-inch OLED display and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Poco has also added its own VisionBoost D8 chipset to assist with AI Super Resolution and other enhancement features. The device introduces HyperRGB display technology, where all three subpixels are utilized fully to deliver sharper text and more vibrant images.

On the rear, the phone sports a triple 50-megapixel camera setup and also supports wireless charging, bringing it closer to premium competitors. With this combination, Poco is positioning the Ultra not just as another fast phone but as a balanced flagship aimed at performance seekers and content lovers alike.

A Massive Battery for Heavy Users
Battery life is a major highlight of the Poco F8 Ultra. It houses a 6500 mAh battery, the largest ever in a Poco F series phone. This is clearly aimed at users who game heavily, stream for hours, or work long days on their phones. With such capacity, the F8 Ultra promises to keep users away from chargers well into the night, solving a common pain point in today’s flagship devices.

A Denim Jacket for Your Phone
Where design is concerned, Poco has embraced creativity. The most eye-catching variant is the Denim edition of the F8 Ultra. While it looks like it’s wrapped in actual jeans fabric, the back panel is made from a special Xiaomi nanotech material that mimics denim in appearance without the drawbacks of using real cloth. It adds a fashionable twist to smartphone design, giving Poco a signature look that stands out instantly in photos and reels.

What the Poco F8 Pro Brings
The Poco F8 Pro sits a step below the Ultra but still aims to deliver a flagship experience. It features a 6.59-inch display with smooth micro-curved edges that blend into the rear panel. Powered by last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, it remains fast enough for gaming and daily performance while leaving the absolute top-tier claim to the Ultra.

With a 6210 mAh battery, Poco claims up to 16 hours of continuous usage, once again emphasizing endurance as a core selling point for the series.

Shared Features and Software
Despite their differences, the F8 Ultra and F8 Pro share several flagship essentials. Both come with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, aligning them with modern top-tier standards. They run on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3, offering familiar software functionality for long-time Xiaomi and Poco users. And both feature Bose-tuned stereo speakers, ensuring strong audio output across the lineup even if only the Ultra includes the subwoofer.

Global Pricing and Positioning
Pricing reveals Poco’s strategy: deliver premium features while staying below typical flagship costs. Globally, the F8 Pro starts at USD 579 for the 12 GB + 256 GB model and goes up to USD 629 for the 12 GB + 512 GB variant. The F8 Ultra begins at USD 729 for the 12 GB + 256 GB version, rising to USD 799 for 16 GB + 512 GB. Early bird pricing is even more aggressive, dropping to USD 529 / USD 579 for the Pro and USD 679 / USD 729 for the Ultra. Pricing for India and some other regions is yet to be announced.

A New Chapter for Poco
The launch of the F8 Ultra and F8 Pro marks an important shift. Poco is making a clear statement: it wants to compete in the premium smartphone segment without losing its reputation for value. With the Bose partnership, denim-inspired design, massive batteries, and top-tier performance, the F8 series is a significant step towards that goal.

For users who have always associated Poco with budget performance, the F8 Ultra shows a brand ready to evolve offering a flagship experience while still keeping prices competitive. The phone may have a denim jacket and a built-in subwoofer, but it’s the bigger message behind it that stands out: Poco is no longer just playing in the mid-range field. It’s stepping into the premium arena with confidence.
