PM Modi to launch projects worth over Rs 53,000 crore during two-day Gujarat visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Gujarat on May 26 and 27, marking his first visit to the state after Operation Sindoor, as confirmed by the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). The two-day visit will witness the inauguration and foundation laying of development projects worth ₹53,414 crore, focused on transforming Gujarat’s infrastructure, energy, and tourism landscape.
Key Events in Bhuj on May 26
A major chunk of the scheduled activities will unfold in Bhuj, where the Prime Minister will launch 33 significant projects. These developments span across energy, roads, water supply, tourism, and port infrastructure—with contributions from key state and central agencies including the Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Roads and Buildings Department, and the Deendayal Port Authority.
Boost to Power and Infrastructure
PM Modi will inaugurate crucial power infrastructure, such as:
220/66 kV Babarzar Substation
132/66 kV Kansumra Substation in Jamnagar
Solar PV projects totaling 250+ MW across Morbi, Kutch, and Jamnagar
Several road infrastructure improvements are also part of the launch, including the Layja-Bada-Mapar-Modkuba-Suthari road and the Dhordo Tent City access road, enhancing connectivity in the Kutch region.
Expanding Port Facilities and Connectivity
In the port sector, Kandla Port will witness significant upgrades such as:
Oil Jetty No. 8
Transit storage godowns
New port connectivity roads for efficient EXIM cargo movement
Residential quarters for port staff
A Centre of Excellence in Gandhidham
These expansions are aimed at boosting operational capacity and improving living standards for port workers.
Future-Ready Infrastructure: Foundation Stone Laying
Several high-impact future projects will also begin with the Prime Minister laying foundation stones, including:
800 kV HVDC transmission line from the Khawda Renewable Energy Zone
Transmission systems for 7 GW of additional solar and wind power
400/220 kV substations in Kutch and Ahmedabad
800 MW Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant at Ukai
A green hydrogen production facility
Multiple Road Over Bridges and six-lane highway expansions in the Kandla region
Technology and Tourism Upgrades
A highlight of the visit is the announcement of plans to develop Hyperloop Pod Technology at Kandla Port—a futuristic transport solution with immense potential. In addition, tourism infrastructure at Dholavira, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is also being enhanced to attract more visitors and elevate Gujarat’s position on the global tourism map.
