DPA Kandla partners with Gandhidham Municipal Corporation for major urban development initiatives
In a transformative step toward strengthening urban infrastructure and uplifting civic amenities, Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has officially partnered with the Gandhidham Municipal Corporation to advance a series of large-scale development projects. The agreement was formalized in the august presence of Shri Bhupendra Patel, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, marking a significant milestone in the journey of modernizing the Gandhidham–Adipur Twin Port City.
The partnership reflects a strong collective commitment to creating a sustainable, future-ready, and citizen-friendly urban ecosystem. An exchange of agreement during the event reaffirmed DPA Kandla’s dedication to supporting inclusive and long-term development that benefits the region’s growing population and economic activities.
Key Initiatives under the Collaboration
Heritage Road Redevelopment
One of the flagship components of this partnership is the comprehensive redevelopment of the Heritage Road, stretching from the Sardar Patel Statue to Gandhi Market. This initiative focuses on enhancing the aesthetic appeal, improving infrastructure, and making the corridor more pedestrian- and commuter-friendly.
Landmark Junction Development
Lilashah Circle is set to undergo a remarkable transformation as it will be developed into the DPA Green Hydrogen Park. This upgrade symbolizes an important milestone in positioning Gandhidham–Adipur as India’s first Green Hydrogen City an innovative step aligned with India’s clean energy ambitions.
Adoption and Upgradation of Major Circles
To improve traffic flow and strengthen the city’s visual identity, DPA Kandla will take up the beautification and redesign of two major junctions: Jhanda Chowk and Adipur Circle. These improvements aim to enhance both functionality and aesthetics, making these prominent locations more organized and visually appealing.
City Sanitation Drive
Under the Swachh Gandhidham mission, a robust 24-month sanitation initiative has been launched to improve cleanliness across the East Zone. This program will utilize both manual and mechanized cleaning systems, ensuring more efficient, reliable, and long-term sanitation standards for residents.
