102 IndiGo flights cancelled at Bengaluru airport as disruptions continue for fourth day in row

Bengaluru witnessed another day of travel chaos as IndiGo flight cancellations and delays continued, marking the fourth straight day of operational disruptions.

Rising Cancellations at KIA
At least 102 IndiGo flights were cancelled early on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). Airport officials confirmed that 52 arrivals and 50 departures were called off due to operational reasons, adding to growing concerns among passengers already facing days of uncertainty.

Airline Alerts DGCA of Continued Disruptions
IndiGo had earlier informed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that flight delays and cancellations would continue for the next two to three days. To minimize further disruption, the airline announced it would curtail flights from December 8. This move is expected to ease pressure but may still affect thousands of travellers in the coming days.

A Week of Travel Frustration
This latest wave of cancellations follows Wednesday’s disruption, during which 99 flights were cancelled at Bengaluru airport alone. The repeated cancellations have led to long queues, rescheduling challenges, and increased anxiety among travellers heading into the busy travel season.

Reason Behind the Operational Breakdown
During a meeting with DGCA and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, IndiGo admitted that the widespread disruptions stemmed from “misjudgement and planning gaps.” These gaps were associated with the implementation of new norms governing pilot rest and duty hours from November 1, especially those restricting night flying. The airline acknowledged that the changes were not planned efficiently, leading to roster complications and staffing shortages.

Impact Across India’s Major Airports
The crisis is not limited to Bengaluru. According to PTI, over 550 domestic and international IndiGo flights were cancelled across major airports. The worst-affected airports included Mumbai with 85 flights cancelled, Hyderabad with 68, Chennai with 31, and Delhi with 30. The scale of the disruption highlights the operational strain on India’s largest airline and its cascading impact on the country’s aviation sector.

Looking Ahead
As IndiGo works to stabilize operations, passengers are advised to stay updated via official channels and prepare for potential last-minute changes. With the airline expected to normalize schedules gradually, the coming days will be critical in restoring confidence among travellers and ensuring smoother operations across India’s major airports.
